Office Assistant

Job Ref: 10962

The opportunity you've been waiting for

Does the idea of being the go-to person who keeps an office running sound like your kind of day? A well-established professional services firm is looking for a General Office Assistant to do exactly that. This is hands-on, varied, and at the heart of a busy Edinburgh workplace where your contribution is felt every day.

If you are organised, practical, and take pride in a well-run environment, this is a role where that matters.

How you'll make your mark

  • Keep the office running to a consistently high standard, carrying out regular inspections and reporting maintenance issues promptly.
  • Manage meeting room set-up and clear-down, including audio-visual equipment and refreshments.
  • Order and maintain stationery and catering supplies, checking deliveries and keeping refreshment areas stocked.
  • Manage the security door system, issue entry cards, and assign lockers to staff.
  • Accept, sort and distribute incoming mail and courier deliveries.
  • Carry out new joiner inductions covering office procedures, housekeeping, and health and safety.
  • Work independently across a variety of tasks, using your initiative to keep things moving.

What's in it for you

  • Part-time hours giving you your afternoons free: Monday to Friday, 08:00–14:00.
  • 26 days annual leave, pro-rata, plus bank holidays.
  • Private medical insurance, digital GP access, and eye care vouchers.
  • Life assurance, income protection, and enhanced family leave.
  • Pension, discretionary bonus, and season ticket loans.
  • Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme and high street discounts.
  • Wellbeing resources and inclusive staff networks.
  • Professional development support available.

A bit more about the business

This is a professional services firm with a significant Edinburgh presence and office locations across multiple sites. The Workplace Facilities team provides wide-ranging support across all locations, and this role sits at the centre of the Edinburgh operation. It is a structured, supportive environment where the work you do genuinely matters.

Denholm's take

The morning hours make this a genuinely attractive option for someone looking for a role that fits around other commitments. The benefits package is strong for a part-time position, and the variety of the role means there is always something to get stuck into.

If you are a practical, self-motivated person who takes pride in their environment, we would be glad to hear from you. Get in touch for a confidential conversation.
